Wandering Safety

Safely Home ( formerly the Alzheimer Wandering Registry) was developed by the Alzheimer Society of Canada with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). This program is designed to help individuals with Alzheimer Disease and other related dementias return home safely following an episode of wandering. Registration is voluntary. When registered, vital information about the individual is confidentially stored on a police database where police anywhere in Canada can access it. There is a one-time fee to cover the cost of an identification bracelet, a Caregiver Handbook and ID Cards. Contact the service provider for current information.
